LEAVE YOUNG BIRDS BE!!

Please, do not hamper a young bird's life by picking it up, and taking it home with you. It is calling its parents to help them in locating it.
After fledgling from the nest, the parent birds will keep feeding it, and look out for it, until it will be able to look after itself.
And the reason you cannot see a parent is because of your own proxomity to the young bird. And while you are ebating if or not you should take the bird home, you keep the parent from giving it well needed nutrition in the form of a meal!

A few pictures of my friend, Rook Jnr

The juvenile Rook, Corvus frugilega, has finally allowed me to take a couple of photos whilst feeding in the planter. The repeated movement of the bird s it gathers seed in its beak, creates wonderful poses if you're quick enough.

Who's flying overhead?

Anyone coming onto this patch?

And to compare the beaks, here is one of the juvenile Jackdaws, Corvus monedula.

  2. Andrew! Hello again, and great to see you back here.

Don't I know that you love Corvids. You, me, and good old Crow, of course too.

It was so good to see you posting again. Hope you will continue to do so.

  4. So cute, but then I love corvids. :-) Our local crow family had three chicks this year. The youngest seems a bit... dumb. THe older two have fledged and are self-sufficient, but the youngest is clueless and still following the parents around. I'm wondering how it will fare over winter. :-\
