It was too far off to see properly, and I was unsure which specie or how many had arrived. I've not seen any migrant Geese this far south in the past 28 years, so it did surprise me.<br />I tried returning to the spot, after Jean, who used to be my homehelp, reported seeing someone feeding a Canada Goose and a Swan on the grassy outcrop across from the island. Other things on my mind-like a first Christmas on my own, the scare of those first anniversaries coming up, and absolutely horrific weather most of the time, kept me from going back. I was underway many times, but either the rain or too little charge of my batteries, sent me home again!<br />On the 23rd of January I had a nice ride, and managed to get to the outcrop. A Canada Goose plus Mute Swan, alright. It was feeding right next to the road, which made me think that I would get no photos here; these Geese are quite skittish of people. Stopping well before its position, I took these photos. Which was not easy as there was lots of greenery between us.<br /><br />It almost looked as if it was a domestic bird. Also, they usually feed in flocks, I think?<br />All a bid odd. Yet I had heard and seen Geese landing on the island. And I'd never seen it here before. And neither had Jean, who passes the spot everyday.<br /><br />I have to ask BirdwatchIreland about this. Have they had any reports about a flock this far south?<br /><br />Two male Mallards, in different stages of their moult, were too busy preening for a few poses, while the Hooded Crow was very happy to give me its best side.Yoke,http://www.blogger.com/profile/02596190126355462132noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5494925611676687515.post-58658070376112407792012-01-22T13:05:00.003+00:002012-01-23T00:33:52.956+00:00Missing migrantsI know it is still winter, (although the Irish Spring starts in a week already, on the first of February.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Even so, I do think we need to take time out to think about those birds which will start their flight north, to be arriving in Europe around March and April.<br /><br />Many will go missing along the line though. And end up on the dinner table in some Cypriot household, or restaurant. It is the Cyprus equivalent of African Bushmeat, really.<br /><br />Twice a year, thousands of conservation activists will travel to Cyprus to protest against this ruthless killing of "our" birds. NGO's across Europe, spend millions on bird conservation. Including those birds which come to our shores for their breeding.<br />And yet, while we are creating suitable breeding habitats, others are setting up mistnets, limesticks, and other incredible cruel traps in feeding areas, in order to capture those innocvent lives.<br /><br />Each year, millions of migrants go missing on their to- and return- trek to and from Africa.<br /><br />And despite birdtrapping being declared illegal by the Cypriot and Europan Parlaiment, the poaching continues.<br /><br />Please read this on the Birdlife Europe website, and sign the petition against the trapping of those poor migrants. <br />The birds need to migrate due to their diet. During our winter months, You don't find many Insects here in Europe<br />Please read <a href="http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/call-for-action-against-illegal-bird-trapping-in-cyprus.html">this</a>, and watch the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=0Kk4B4YJWiQ">video</a> at the bottom of the page. Many favour a more direct flight over the Shara and the Rock of Gibraltar, and Spain. There are only two brave enough to come into the garden, but as we all know, Starlings never come alone! The Corvids are very envious of the Starling's smaller size. They would love to get their hands on this delicacy. <br /><br />The Greenfinches and House Sparrows seem always in the mood for a few sharp words, once another bird joins their feeder.<br /><br />The Robin was teasing me by hiding among the twigs, but did pose for me eventually. <br /><br />The birds will attend my tree-planting ceremony. And I hope that they will appreciate the Rowan, Common Alder and Blackthorn. We have chosen Tuesday, the 24th January, for this. It would have been Francis' 63rd birthday. <br />It is more appropiate to plant the Rowan in his memory on the day Francis was born, rather than on the day he died. This way we can celebrate his life, instead of the day his heart stopped.<br /><br />The 6 Siskins seem to be fearless, and they will fend off any of the bigger birds, inspiring the many Blue and Coal Tits to do the same.<br /><br />I had a beautiful mobile of silver seagulls, which I bought in Whitby in 1974. Several cats have jumped up to it over the years, and now I have only a couple of loose seagulls left. I will try and get some thread on them again, and hang these in the Rowan. Francis loved these little silver birds, as much as I did, and he'd be pleased to have them out in his tree for the day. <br />I will do a blog on the planting on <a href="http://wildlifeonwheels.blogspot.com">Wildlife on Wheels. </a><br />This blog is still in its hibernation like all the species she covers in spring and summer. Its about time she awakens!<br /><br />A little baby Rat, still pink-nosed & footed, has braved the wet & windy weather to feed on the dropped seeds. Not very happy with him/her, because I doubt it is the only one in the garden! <br /> <br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CqurK9V6gbY/TxdOC2OvVpI/AAAAAAAAYdw/BMNpg97KbP0/s1600/P1650539A.jpg"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CqurK9V6gbY/TxdOC2OvVpI/AAAAAAAAYdw/BMNpg97KbP0/s400/P1650539A.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699109664284694162" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BVAx4u9MQiU/TxdOCsJTLnI/AAAAAAAAYdk/hj78H5ih2Cc/s1600/P1650390A.jpg"></a><br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3Lax5Bon3Xg/TxdOCELy1pI/AAAAAAAAYdY/Y1hI7iBPAYw/s1600/P1650503A.jpg"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3Lax5Bon3Xg/TxdOCELy1pI/AAAAAAAAYdY/Y1hI7iBPAYw/s400/P1650503A.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699109650850567826" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5w_EECoo6_Q/TxdOB5SnXlI/AAAAAAAAYdM/mcxSz1fPiys/s1600/P1650672A.jpg"></a><br /><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HWVydWFjyyo/TxdODWygDlI/AAAAAAAAYd8/Fdb7NON9h0o/s1600/P1650616A.jpg"></a><br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WhitDVdGB5g/TxdNOPNQKFI/AAAAAAAAYc0/OyQwUWYQraw/s1600/P1650381A.jpg"></a><br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VDTIebb61EA/TxdNOfmeAiI/AAAAAAAAYc8/CvsHrVtvaIU/s1600/P1650737A.jpg"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 265px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VDTIebb61EA/TxdNOfmeAiI/AAAAAAAAYc8/CvsHrVtvaIU/s400/P1650737A.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699108764857008674" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BVAx4u9MQiU/TxdOCsJTLnI/AAAAAAAAYdk/hj78H5ih2Cc/s1600/P1650390A.jpg"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BVAx4u9MQiU/TxdOCsJTLnI/AAAAAAAAYdk/hj78H5ih2Cc/s400/P1650390A.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699109661577522802" border="0" /></a>Yoke,http://www.blogger.com/profile/02596190126355462132noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5494925611676687515.post-86913276071944622882012-01-01T23:52:00.005+00:002012-01-02T02:03:49.303+00:00January 2012I hope you all had a good Christmas and that you had a good start of 2012. At least now I can see my birds on the feeders, and do not have to sit outside with my camera to capture those feathered friends. <br />I need them to be close to me, to cheer me up, because I'm going through a real hard time at this moment. Next month it is a year already since Francis died, and it is getting harder as time goes by. A bit against that saying that it will get easier as time goes by. Okay, it is 11 months only, and I still don't eat properly either.<br />I hope I will manage to post regularly again too.<br /><br />I did get three new trees, the other week. A Common Alder, <span style="font-style: italic;">Alnus glutinosa, </span>Mountain Ash, <span style="font-style: italic;">Sorbus poterifolia, </span>and a Blackthorn<span style="font-style: italic;">, Prunus spinosa.</span><br />Of course these are for the Birds, too. And together with my Hawthorn and Common Hollies, these will create a nice cover against the grey walls of the garden.Yoke,http://www.blogger.com/profile/02596190126355462132noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5494925611676687515.post-26780946599696693882011-12-05T18:20:00.011+00:002011-12-06T00:04:51.176+00:00A couple of local Waders and others.Curlew, <span style="font-style: italic;">Numenius arquata</span><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-d9cjsJFDO2w/Tt1DDp09A_I/AAAAAAAAYUE/BDKESNCx1Yk/s1600/P1630817A.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 274px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-d9cjsJFDO2w/Tt1DDp09A_I/AAAAAAAAYUE/BDKESNCx1Yk/s400/P1630817A.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5682772034858058738" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ycAcuTkWaJM/Tt0yBlycf0I/AAAAAAAAYTU/udIqdTxs-5A/s1600/P1630792A.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ycAcuTkWaJM/Tt0yBlycf0I/AAAAAAAAYTU/udIqdTxs-5A/s400/P1630792A.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5682753307716386626" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Hooded Crow, Corvus cornix</span><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_5BNALP4FMc/Tt0yCCr_LAI/AAAAAAAAYTs/xmEiViQc-6I/s1600/P1630788A.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 242px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_5BNALP4FMc/Tt0yCCr_LAI/AAAAAAAAYTs/xmEiViQc-6I/s400/P1630788A.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5682753315473927170" border="0" /></a><br />I've long been saying that Corvids like the Hooded Crow, <span style="font-style: italic;">Corvus cornix</span>, the Jackdaw, <span style="font-style: italic;">Corvus monedula</span>, the Rook, <span style="font-style: italic;">Corvus frugilegus, </span>and the Red-billed Chough, <span style="font-style: italic;">Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax</span>, act more like shorebirds than landbirds. The fledglings were gorgeous, and a delight to watch as they set their feet onto the peanut feeder for the first time.<br />Then a week or so ago, I spotted this one which seemed very lethargic when I came around the corner of the house.<br />The thought of another bout of Trichomoniasis in my birds made me shiver, because in 2007/2008 this horrible disease decimated the flock of House Sparrows. <br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-M2inYXsZFwY/Tnu40kNql8I/AAAAAAAAX9k/w-6KWXDr23o/s1600/late%2BAugust%252C%2BSept11%2B067A.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-M2inYXsZFwY/Tnu40kNql8I/AAAAAAAAX9k/w-6KWXDr23o/s400/late%2BAugust%252C%2BSept11%2B067A.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655316970307491778" border="0" /></a><br /><br />The sight of this little Greenfinch in the birdbath did not cheer me up either. I had spotted it earlier underneath the feeder, pecking at the bits of nuts in my windowbox, and when it finally flew of, I took the camera to my workroom, from where I have a good view over the bath.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xsNlRJmSmkk/Tnu99hq9u0I/AAAAAAAAX-k/u3SrxVjfkBk/s1600/P1620914a.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xsNlRJmSmkk/Tnu99hq9u0I/AAAAAAAAX-k/u3SrxVjfkBk/s400/P1620914a.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655322621802036034" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iyW2_FfgMYs/Tnu99e8Q6LI/AAAAAAAAX-c/DmYhTfLjE7Y/s1600/P1620913A.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iyW2_FfgMYs/Tnu99e8Q6LI/AAAAAAAAX-c/DmYhTfLjE7Y/s400/P1620913A.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655322621069289650" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GjOuG1Y-rEU/Tnu99JSEEII/AAAAAAAAX-U/RyQHG45F-Yg/s1600/P1620912A.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GjOuG1Y-rEU/Tnu99JSEEII/AAAAAAAAX-U/RyQHG45F-Yg/s400/P1620912A.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655322615255142530" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-edJlYFSK2_0/Tnu99ClW_OI/AAAAAAAAX-M/Fg-Zy95rEMc/s1600/P1620911A.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-edJlYFSK2_0/Tnu99ClW_OI/AAAAAAAAX-M/Fg-Zy95rEMc/s400/P1620911A.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655322613457026274" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ufe0VQ-rat4/Tnu99pKQHiI/AAAAAAAAX-s/4V28CYAcAh8/s1600/P1620916A.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ufe0VQ-rat4/Tnu99pKQHiI/AAAAAAAAX-s/4V28CYAcAh8/s400/P1620916A.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655322623812312610" border="0" /></a><br />It did not look too puffed up, nor did it seem to have the swollen throat, as you'd see in birds suffering from Tricho. Something was definitely wrong though.<br />And although it was hardly moving, its insstinct to hide from me behind the little bee-house, made it more difficult for me to catch the poor thing.<br /><br />Eventually, I was able to pick it up, but the poor bird had already died in my windowbox.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SXXedacKE6A/Tnu41HKreII/AAAAAAAAX90/W5ur6c-vVWE/s1600/P1620938A.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SXXedacKE6A/Tnu41HKreII/AAAAAAAAX90/W5ur6c-vVWE/s400/P1620938A.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655316979690207362" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JzsrTHlqcXI/Tnu41UT4khI/AAAAAAAAX98/mwg7LCQEGU4/s1600/P1620933A.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JzsrTHlqcXI/Tnu41UT4khI/AAAAAAAAX98/mwg7LCQEGU4/s400/P1620933A.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655316983218475538" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zgRQ_HLZYPc/Tnu408byd-I/AAAAAAAAX9s/ZE24GbPX9wM/s1600/P1620934A.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zgRQ_HLZYPc/Tnu408byd-I/AAAAAAAAX9s/ZE24GbPX9wM/s400/P1620934A.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655316976809179106" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br />Some liquid in the feathers on the head seem to have dried up, which I think is something like blood, although I have not yet found any puncture wounds, but I will look for it in the morning. It is very mean that I myself had my cat re-adopted shortly after Francis died, because she had started to chase the birds. On my own I was unable to police her properly, so she had to go. in return what did I get in the garden?<br />A set of older kittens, from 2 houses down. A nextdoor neighbour with a cat, Lucy. She keeps me company from the gardenwall separating our gardens, during the night when I lie awake. wondering if the pain will ever go away, in return for a bit of sleep. <br /><br />And to top it all off, a recent set of young kittens, eager to learn from the older set!<br />So I now have 5 cats in the garden!!! After I got rid of my own..<br /><br />I myself am now thinking of getting an assistance dog, which can do amazing tasks as help for people with disabilities. Very much like a guard dog for the blind.<br />Hopefully I would then be able to teach it to leave the birds alone and scare the felines from my patch!<br />I will phone Fachtna, my vet tomorrow about my little Greenfinch. See what he thinks.<br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rr9MFRy2xws/Tnu5Cp7IrRI/AAAAAAAAX-E/9RfPIx1ymL0/s1600/P1620949A.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rr9MFRy2xws/Tnu5Cp7IrRI/AAAAAAAAX-E/9RfPIx1ymL0/s400/P1620949A.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655317212358552850" border="0" /></a>Yoke,http://www.blogger.com/profile/02596190126355462132noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5494925611676687515.post-21191476397605679012011-07-08T09:15:00.004+01:002011-07-08T15:22:21.715+01:00Knock, knock...<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-y0uhaoR68hs/ThcF0NGxnJI/AAAAAAAAX3E/Y_HkSuXgiMg/s1600/P1600723A.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-y0uhaoR68hs/ThcF0NGxnJI/AAAAAAAAX3E/Y_HkSuXgiMg/s400/P1600723A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5626972653852138642" border="0" /></a><br />Who's that knocking on my window?<br /><br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f6ndjgoh7G8/ThcDIi5FHYI/AAAAAAAAX2s/dSStDLskMFM/s1600/P1600338A.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f6ndjgoh7G8/ThcDIi5FHYI/AAAAAAAAX2s/dSStDLskMFM/s400/P1600338A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5626969704762776962" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rjF1ckFVC44/ThcF0HEHfLI/AAAAAAAAX3M/qLbD_mAx11k/s1600/P1600724A.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rjF1ckFVC44/ThcF0HEHfLI/AAAAAAAAX3M/qLbD_mAx11k/s400/P1600724A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5626972652230376626" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-K7mwvDxL-68/ThcF0qhmHpI/AAAAAAAAX3U/gxmlhKSn2y8/s1600/P1600720A.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-K7mwvDxL-68/ThcF0qhmHpI/AAAAAAAAX3U/gxmlhKSn2y8/s400/P1600720A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5626972661749259922" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Great Tit, <span style="font-style: italic;">parus major, </span>A fluffy juvenile trying to unfold itself..<br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9r1Q8qIM7E4/ThcDI2B7ccI/AAAAAAAAX20/8y9CcqlLqwo/s1600/P1600717A.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9r1Q8qIM7E4/ThcDI2B7ccI/AAAAAAAAX20/8y9CcqlLqwo/s400/P1600717A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5626969709900165570" border="0" /></a><br />into what looks like a little bird.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RHuygHWrK8g/ThcDIwAV9SI/AAAAAAAAX28/SapjaDpAqSw/s1600/P1600719A.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RHuygHWrK8g/ThcDIwAV9SI/AAAAAAAAX28/SapjaDpAqSw/s400/P1600719A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5626969708282901794" border="0" /></a><br />Robin, <span style="font-style: italic;">Erithacus rubecula<br /></span><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lQxoyWtkGZ8/ThcF0pAS4uI/AAAAAAAAX3c/hxxIVnLqQQQ/s1600/P1600328A.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lQxoyWtkGZ8/ThcF0pAS4uI/AAAAAAAAX3c/hxxIVnLqQQQ/s400/P1600328A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5626972661341151970" border="0" /></a><br />Chaffinch, <span style="font-style: italic;">Fringilla coelebs<br /></span><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jAI5WTytahk/ThcF0yhWsGI/AAAAAAAAX3k/eWeAY-wYH6g/s1600/P1600401A.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jAI5WTytahk/ThcF0yhWsGI/AAAAAAAAX3k/eWeAY-wYH6g/s400/P1600401A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5626972663895732322" border="0" /></a>male.<br /><br />Life is still mad down here. Life as such is still passing by as if I'm not in it.Yoke,http://www.blogger.com/profile/02596190126355462132noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5494925611676687515.post-91645606223502258822011-07-07T20:35:00.007+01:002011-07-07T21:27:46.780+01:00Black and white wingsCollared Doves, <span style="font-style: italic;">Streptopelia decaocto </span>and<span style="font-style: italic;"> </span>Jackdaw<span style="font-style: italic;">, Corvus monedula. </span><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9uaJ0YgdlJw/ThYPJaUSDjI/AAAAAAAAX10/SD0e7cJ6mmM/s1600/P1600526A.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9uaJ0YgdlJw/ThYPJaUSDjI/AAAAAAAAX10/SD0e7cJ6mmM/s400/P1600526A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5626701438803643954" border="0" /></a><br />Collared Dove and Rook, <span style="font-style: italic;">Corvus frigulegus</span><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uzVBr5tSD8c/ThYPF8xDFBI/AAAAAAAAX1s/fsvBtHY1DyU/s1600/P1600360a.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uzVBr5tSD8c/ThYPF8xDFBI/AAAAAAAAX1s/fsvBtHY1DyU/s400/P1600360a.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5626701379331626002" border="0" /></a><br />Jackdaws feeding- not always agreeing!<br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qnYySKv43T4/ThYRrwsgVQI/AAAAAAAAX2U/6b2vc2-pPVg/s1600/P1600674A.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qnYySKv43T4/ThYRrwsgVQI/AAAAAAAAX2U/6b2vc2-pPVg/s400/P1600674A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5626704227949630722" border="0" /></a><br />One of the Jackdaw juveniles, being fed by a parent.<br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-luCCaSSivlQ/ThYPJmBVEAI/AAAAAAAAX18/qci_wh9p9Ug/s1600/P1600681A.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 237px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-luCCaSSivlQ/ThYPJmBVEAI/AAAAAAAAX18/qci_wh9p9Ug/s400/P1600681A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5626701441945374722" border="0" /></a><br />and asking for more as soon as mum or dad leaves.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-U8YL0qrUXLU/ThYPJ72m3AI/AAAAAAAAX2E/sQCe8YEMtpc/s1600/P1600689A.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-U8YL0qrUXLU/ThYPJ72m3AI/AAAAAAAAX2E/sQCe8YEMtpc/s400/P1600689A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5626701447805983746" border="0" /></a><br />Each year I would be looking forward to our Jackdaw fledglings. The Fatsia is flourishing again, now that the birds are leaving her alone.<br />I had been sourcing the web for a new window feeder, but in the end I got this one for just 3.30 euro via Kleeneze.<br />I had to remove the round peanutfeeder, once I discovered that the birds were able to take out whole peanuts through the wider openings in the mesh. As spring and summer were approaching, young birds could easily choke on those whole nuts. So the seed feeder in the front has now moved back onto the shed and my trusty old peanutfeeder has been reinstalled again in the front.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vliol-hiK84/Tf-JjyLcpvI/AAAAAAAAXuY/X2xCSvL64TA/s1600/P1590665AA.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vliol-hiK84/Tf-JjyLcpvI/AAAAAAAAXuY/X2xCSvL64TA/s400/P1590665AA.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620362107839882994" border="0" /></a><br />House Sparrow, <span style="font-style: italic;">Passer domesticus</span><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xk9sb2gb7y8/Tf-JkW9dnYI/AAAAAAAAXuo/TY0HoFVPifI/s1600/Francy%2BX0A.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 255px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xk9sb2gb7y8/Tf-JkW9dnYI/AAAAAAAAXuo/TY0HoFVPifI/s400/Francy%2BX0A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620362117713337730" border="0" /></a><br />This youngster has been dubbed <span style="font-style: italic;">Francy,</span> named after my dear, and late husband, Francis. The disadvantage is that I am now unable to see them from my window. These pictures were taking with the kitchen door open.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-A9dOs9GdDVY/TZjReZgmtcI/AAAAAAAAXmk/o3XrJ5oZkRM/s1600/P1570155A.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-A9dOs9GdDVY/TZjReZgmtcI/AAAAAAAAXmk/o3XrJ5oZkRM/s400/P1570155A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591449257554392514" border="0" /></a><br /><br />The antics of my birds make me smile these days, but inside I cannot help thinking how Francis would have loved to see those moments. Especially in the last weeks, he would hold onto the back of my wheels, to help him stand and watch out of the window, his eyes following the many birds scattering about the garden while his face was showing the pain and agony he was suffering from. Such a pity that the window was way to high to see the birds from a chair. <br />It is just too difficult thinking of <span style="font-style: italic;">new </span>life this spring while I have just lost such an important person in my life.<br /><br />And although my application for a PA, as in help, during the day will be reviewed monthly, I don't think I will get one allocated. The application has been denied once, so why would they think different the next time? I'm really fed up with everything, and even finding enough enthusiasm for my photography is difficult at times. Here you get the specie in its own habitat. But not just from one viewpoint. Here we see several birds showing the reader its front, rear, side view, and in flight, or preening underneath its wing, revealing the underside.<br />Added into the mix, we also have adult, juvenile or 1st winter, (depending on the changes after moulting.<br /><br />In short, I am dying for Richard, who is English after all, to come back across the pond, and create a British/Irish version of his American book. Or two books on East and West European ID guides.<br /><br />Mind you, this is not a field guide. But if you are planning a ,North-East, American birding trip, you definitely need to bring one of these to check your sightings with the many specie samples in the photos.<br /><br />I'm definitely sold on Crossley's book, and I'll be looking forward to other bird ID books, by this photographer. , I feel that this will be the way forward to new and exiting bird ID guides.<br /><br />The website <a href="http://www.crossleybooks.com/">Crossley's Birds</a> states that he has two more books coming soon:<br />The Crossley ID Guide: Great Britain<br />The Cossley ID Guide: Western Birds. <br />I know which one I'll be looking forward to!<br />This website also features interactive pages of the book.<br /><br /><br /><br />The Crossley's ID Guide, Eastern Birds, is available at <a href="http://press.princeton.edu/titles/9384.html">Princeton Universiity Press, </a><br />554 pages, with 10.000 colour photos. I should be happy that spring is here, but it will be an empty one, this year. And the years to come.<br />One day in January we celebrated the 62nd birthday of my dear Francis, husband, best friend, and carer, and 4 days later, now 5 weeks ago, I had to say a final goodbye to him in the Merci hospital in Cork.<br />The GPhad diagnosed a chest infection, but in reality he was suffering from kidney failure, blocked Aorta and further blood cloths at the top of his legs.<br />The post mortom report, due in about 3 weeks, will reveal the extent of all those, and that will hopefully clear up how he died exactly. andwhat/how long he had been suffering from. For more than 3 years he had more and more trouble and pain with walking and breathing. And how that big blood clot in the Aorta developed. (I was assured that it could not have been due to heavy smoking, by my GP, who kept checking up at me for the first 4 weeks.)<br /><br />While waiting untill I get a PA (personal assistant) I have now home help for 30-60 minutes a day. Just enough to help me into bed.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iBVJWxmFA-Y/TXPvfDR1kII/AAAAAAAAXak/a6I3L3IBzXc/s1600/P1550778A.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iBVJWxmFA-Y/TXPvfDR1kII/AAAAAAAAXak/a6I3L3IBzXc/s400/P1550778A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5581067679977279618" border="0" /></a><br />Not the right time to put out food for the birds. Like filling up feeders in the areas which I cannot reach with my wheels. I am hoping that Cork county council will pave the area between the path and the wall. In late spring, autumn and summer it will be okay for my home helps to fill up feeders, and put out the food, when there is no risk of injury due to lack of light.<br />So I need to make history, in my quest to get homehelp to help me put out the bird food in the morning. Until now it is not a recognised "need" with the Southern Health Executive, apparently. (yet)<br />Blackcap, enjoying a banana 'kebab'<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vXR_jp1xVzg/TXPve_bUHtI/AAAAAAAAXac/T7QSVTek92s/s1600/P1560167A.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vXR_jp1xVzg/TXPve_bUHtI/AAAAAAAAXac/T7QSVTek92s/s400/P1560167A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5581067678943289042" border="0" /></a><br />I had put this out for the Blackcaps. A friend had told me once how her =Scottish= Blackcaps enjoyed the bits of banana she'd left out in this garden shrub. The shrub soon became the banana bush, because they seemed to love it! Especially Chaffinches and the Sparrows.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X_nJc7tftq0/TXPrKv9pgzI/AAAAAAAAXaU/-qrR7442l7U/s1600/P1560035A.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X_nJc7tftq0/TXPrKv9pgzI/AAAAAAAAXaU/-qrR7442l7U/s400/P1560035A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5581062933148435250" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-e7xA8UgS4Aw/TXPrKZJwJSI/AAAAAAAAXaM/A3_9zNGDteo/s1600/P1560031A.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-e7xA8UgS4Aw/TXPrKZJwJSI/AAAAAAAAXaM/A3_9zNGDteo/s400/P1560031A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5581062927025186082" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c5vu_2-Elzo/TXPrJjMXofI/AAAAAAAAXaE/aUgG6IsNDR8/s1600/P1560040A.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c5vu_2-Elzo/TXPrJjMXofI/AAAAAAAAXaE/aUgG6IsNDR8/s400/P1560040A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5581062912540647922" border="0" /></a><br /><br />. once Francis had died, however, she did manage her way outside and laid a dead little Sparrow there where I had found Francis, in the bathroom. From then on, it became soon clear that I was unable to police her at the door, and besides she was demanding too much. So, while I needed to try and sort out myself, my house, and get an idea of what next, Niña went on a well deserved holiday in Dunmanway. Sally, the kennel/cattery owner, knew Niña from previous visits, and had the heatlamp warming up her bed, and the birdfeeder next to the window was refilled again that morning. (Here she could watch. but not touch the birds. Every cat unit has a feeder outside its window!)<br />Niña's photos<span style="font-style: italic;"> were placed on the website of <a href="http://www.rawr.ie/image/tid/155">Rural Animal Welfare Resources</a></span>, after I got in contact with the lovely Muriel, who coordinates cat re-homing in and around Bantry. I had sent her photos on the Tuesday and by Saturday my lovely cat went to her new home here on the Sheep'shead peninsula. There she has an acre around the house, to play and roam to her heart's content.<br />She has settled in very well, whih is a huge relief. It does mean that the house here is now extra silent, suddenly.<br />This Chaffinch female is blind in one eye after she had been attacked by a local pet.<br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bpr30SzIYj4/TXPrJO6gkWI/AAAAAAAAXZ8/sDt5ELnkWtY/s1600/P1550888AC.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bpr30SzIYj4/TXPrJO6gkWI/AAAAAAAAXZ8/sDt5ELnkWtY/s400/P1550888AC.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5581062907097026914" border="0" /></a><br />Our cat had been kept indoors during these days, however<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-h-Due9y9X2U/TXPrIwJf-oI/AAAAAAAAXZ0/xnybMEvrl8Q/s1600/P1550768a.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-h-Due9y9X2U/TXPrIwJf-oI/AAAAAAAAXZ0/xnybMEvrl8Q/s400/P1550768a.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5581062898838403714" border="0" /></a>Yoke,http://www.blogger.com/profile/02596190126355462132noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5494925611676687515.post-28789275921831484352011-01-21T20:02:00.007+00:002011-01-21T22:39:48.292+00:00Blackcaps, Sylvia atriciapilla.Blackcap, <span style="font-style: italic;">Sylvia atriciapilla</span><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TToIpUGQMaI/AAAAAAAAXVY/47UAJu_2Zk8/s1600/P1550471A.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TToIpUGQMaI/AAAAAAAAXVY/47UAJu_2Zk8/s400/P1550471A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564769795432264098" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TTn4vANp1RI/AAAAAAAAXVA/-kgsRNaC7lw/s1600/P1540150.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TTn4vANp1RI/AAAAAAAAXVA/-kgsRNaC7lw/s400/P1540150.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564752300987766034" border="0" /></a>male<br />We have 4 male Blackcaps in the garden at the moment. Although originally classified as a migrant bird, there is a small population of Blackcaps which are now resident in the SW of Ireland.<br />During the cold winter 2009/2010 we had a female visiting the birdtable. The first male which appeared us was a very shy character however and very polite too, whenever other hungry species would come close.<br />This all changed when another three Blackcaps (all males) made this garden their local diner.<br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TTn8TQApBJI/AAAAAAAAXVI/H4usbHk-SB4/s1600/P1260868A.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TTn8TQApBJI/AAAAAAAAXVI/H4usbHk-SB4/s400/P1260868A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564756222238327954" border="0" /></a>female, March 2010.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TTn4u0rLABI/AAAAAAAAXU4/w57PNJRpEkU/s1600/Respite%2BNovember%2B2010%2B002A.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TTn4u0rLABI/AAAAAAAAXU4/w57PNJRpEkU/s400/Respite%2BNovember%2B2010%2B002A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564752297890349074" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TTn4ukYXKSI/AAAAAAAAXUw/NenistYEuu0/s1600/P1540609A.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TTn4ukYXKSI/AAAAAAAAXUw/NenistYEuu0/s400/P1540609A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564752293516486946" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TTn4uVOpfPI/AAAAAAAAXUo/2WhPA_b7iqQ/s1600/P1550372A.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TTn4uVOpfPI/AAAAAAAAXUo/2WhPA_b7iqQ/s400/P1550372A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564752289449213170" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Blackcap and Greenfinch.<br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TToBrPLlGJI/AAAAAAAAXVQ/U-P2JJUaRtk/s1600/P1540932A.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TToBrPLlGJI/AAAAAAAAXVQ/U-P2JJUaRtk/s400/P1540932A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564762131890772114" border="0" /></a><br />The Blackcap is feeding on one of the many peanutcake pots and trays, while the Greenfinch prefers the mixed seeds.<br /><br />I really hope that there is one or more female Blackcaps around as I'd love to see them breed in my area.<br />One of my 4 males should be able to sire offspring, don't you think?<br /><br />It is weird that their total keeps growing now that the worst of this early winter cold weather has past. Wonder where they had been hanging around? And will I get any more? If so, can I have a female perhaps?<br /><br />Mind you, they make great subjects for photos, I think.<br /><br />Although many of the heavier birds try to steal nuts from the feeder, the Blackcap is the only one which is able to cling on and feed on the peanuts inside the feeder.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TTn4uQIQbTI/AAAAAAAAXUg/Mb8DpBYXpMU/s1600/P1550414A.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TTn4uQIQbTI/AAAAAAAAXUg/Mb8DpBYXpMU/s400/P1550414A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564752288080227634" border="0" /></a>Blackcap and Siskin.Yoke,http://www.blogger.com/profile/02596190126355462132noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5494925611676687515.post-19051952957662795292011-01-16T22:24:00.003+00:002011-01-16T22:35:12.122+00:00A few winter birds sliding by.Because I've had little, to no time lately, I created this little slide with a few images of this last week. <br />hope you like it this glimpse into the garden. Goldfinches, Greenfinches and Siskins. The mixed flock would arrive here in October and stay until moving on again in March. They didn't come in the winter of 2006/2007. I did see a pair of Greens and a pair of Goldies in spring. But these only visited a couple of times till early September. On the day the Irish Wheelchair Association came to bring us to Cork Airport, and a juvenile Goldfinch had me clinging to the window. At first I refused to leave ( of course!) So had they all been breeding here all along?<br />I'd see Goldfinches now and then in the Summer since then. And Greenfinches would visit very sporadically.<br /><br />Hence my surprise to see a pair of Siskins yesterday and today! I got the birds a new peanut feeder, this winter. Mr. Chaffinch too, has been trying to find his balance, and today I even spotted the Blackcap on top of it. <br /><br />Robin, <span style="font-style: italic;">Erithacus rubecula</span><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TSDxXoXun9I/AAAAAAAAXTk/32GaavP3PVo/s1600/P1530304A.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TSDxXoXun9I/AAAAAAAAXTk/32GaavP3PVo/s400/P1530304A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5557707328451420114" border="0" /></a><br />Dunnock, <span style="font-style: italic;">Prunella modularis</span><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TSDxXqiwP9I/AAAAAAAAXTc/LPjx3n32CVg/s1600/P1530204A.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TSDxXqiwP9I/AAAAAAAAXTc/LPjx3n32CVg/s400/P1530204A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5557707329034534866" border="0" /></a><br />This lady House Sparrow, <span style="font-style: italic;">Passer domesticus</span> got herself a bit in a twist. <br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TSDxXSqETzI/AAAAAAAAXTU/VOZRGe_qf4w/s1600/P1520824A.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZuL-wqavgqo/TSDxXSqETzI/AAAAAAAAXTU/VOZRGe_qf4w/s400/P1520824A.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5557707322622758706" border="0" /></a>Female.<br /><br />Why bite of bits of nut when you can pass a whole nut through the mesh.
