The juvenile Rook, Corvus frugilega, has finally allowed me to take a couple of photos whilst feeding in the planter. The repeated movement of the bird s it gathers seed in its beak, creates wonderful poses if you're quick enough.
Who's flying overhead?
Anyone coming onto this patch?
And to compare the beaks, here is one of the juvenile Jackdaws, Corvus monedula.
Lovely close up photos. I love corvids you're very lucky to get so close and personal to them. Keep up the good work yoke, All the best Andrew
ReplyDeleteAndrew! Hello again, and great to see you back here.
ReplyDeleteDon't I know that you love Corvids. You, me, and good old Crow, of course too.
It was so good to see you posting again. Hope you will continue to do so.
Take care.
I love these photos of the rook.
ReplyDeleteSo cute, but then I love corvids. :-) Our local crow family had three chicks this year. The youngest seems a bit... dumb. THe older two have fledged and are self-sufficient, but the youngest is clueless and still following the parents around. I'm wondering how it will fare over winter. :-\
